Decades Tournament - 2010s South Africa v 2010s India

After 4 days of attritional cricket on a very slow pitch this Port Elizabeth Test match between a South Africa 2010s team and their Indian counterparts ended in a nervy draw.

Batting was not easy and the scoring rate rarely exceeded 2 runs per over. South Africa captain du Plessis  shone brightest on day 1 with 82 out of 177-6, in which there were 28 maiden overs! South Africa's last 5 wickets fell for 14 but India struggled too, being at one stage 78-4. Rahane's 6 hour 74 helped the tourists to a lead of 51.

Day 4 was truncated by rain and bad light but the pitch was improving and batting made slightly easier. At the close South Africa were 211-5, a lead of 160, but Elgar (85) was 1 of 5 wickets to fall for 46 on the 5th morning as India found themselves requiring 216 to win in 42 overs plus the last hour. India soon discovered their task would not be easy as they limped to 73-4 at tea, and then 131-7 an hour later. But thanks to Kohli's 54 and then Shami's unbeaten 30 India avoided defeat. Philander's 9 wickets earned him MOM.
