Decades Tournament - 2020s England v 2020s Rest of the World

England exploded on to the scene in Group K with a statement 'Bazball' win against the Rest of the World.

Temba Bavuma won the toss, electing to bat first and the Rest of the World were restricted to 263 all out in humid bowler friendly conditions.  Despite a brilliant 127 by Dinesh Chandimal, batting was difficult with Bavuma's 37 being the next top score.  Ben Stokes swung the ball and took 4-58 with 3 for Curran and 2 for Woakes.

England set off like a train but lost regular wickets, slumping to 162-9.  Ben Duckett hit 79 but the top and middle order largely failed, playing rash strokes as they tried to force their style on the Edgbaston surface.  Some brilliant hitting by Will Jacks and Ollie Robinson helped England back into the game as they put on 110 for the last wicket.  Jacks made 65 not out and Robinson 45 as England were 272 all out (leading by 9 runs).

England then took quick wickets and had the Rest of the World 91-4 before a superb stand of 130 between Mendis and Masood.  Mendis top scored in the innings with 75 and Masood made 66, but the Rest of the World then suffered a huge collapse.  They lost 6 wickets for 27 as they fell to 248 all out.  Jacks impressed with the ball taking 4 for 74 and England needed 240 to win the game.  This should have been a tough chase however as the ball was beginning to turn and the World XI sport one of the best bowling attacks in the group.

England would not be denied however and they bludgeoned their way to a 9 wicket win in just 48 overs.  Ben Duckett hit 136 not out with Harry Brook unbeaten at the other end on 91.  They shared a 2nd wicket stand of 218 and smashed the World XI attack to all parts of the ground.

Duckett was the well deserved man of the match for hitting over 200 runs on a bowler friendly pitch and this win has surely gotten the attention of every team in the group.
