A Rest of the World 1980s team stunned Mumbai's cricket followers by beating India's finest from the 2010s by 5 runs.
On an incredible 5th morning of their Test match, 6 Indian wickets tumbled for 23 runs. The locals were strangely muted as Kapil Dev, India's greatest cricketer of the 20th century, tore through the home batting line up with high class swing bowling. Imran marshalled his bowling attack adroitly, so much so that this unlikely win in the end looked inevitable.
Arguably pivotal was the 1st day fightback by Javed (158) and Hadlee (70), who added 114 from 137 balls after their side had slumped to 171-7. Ashwin bowled his off breaks beautifully in that 1st innings for 6-71, but crucially was not as effective 2nd time round.
Perhaps as significant was that Kohli came out of the Test match with a pair? Pujara (118 and 80) was technically flawless and unlucky to be on the losing side. But ultimately this was a tremendous team effort from Rest of the World, led superbly by their inspirational captain.
Kapil Dev was player of the match for his brilliant bowling spell on that last morning and now the Rest of the World move on to the Semi Finals to face the 1960s South Africans.
